Following medical consultations and examinations, doctors decided that she needed to be transferred to a specialized hospital in Tirana for further treatment and medical care.
Woman’s condition deteriorated near Elbasan
During the journey to the capital, the woman’s health condition reportedly deteriorated while the ambulance was near Elbasan.
Despite efforts to assist her, the 37-year-old died while being transported toward Tirana.
The circumstances surrounding the death remain unclear, and no definitive cause of death has been publicly established at this stage.
Forensic autopsy expected to determine cause of death
A forensic medical autopsy is expected to be carried out to establish the exact cause of the woman’s death.
Authorities have also begun verifying the circumstances of the case as part of an investigation aimed at establishing what happened before and during the transfer from Pogradec toward Tirana.
At this stage, it would be premature to attribute the death to pregnancy complications, another medical condition, or any possible failure in medical treatment without the findings of the forensic examination and the authorities’ investigation.
