The anti-government protest outside the Prime Minister's Office in Tirana entered its 52nd consecutive day, with demonstrators once again gathering to voice their dissatisfaction with Albania's political leadership.
One protester, who identified himself as being from Vlora, delivered a passionate speech, arguing that the only way for Albania to move forward is through the removal of Prime Minister Edi Rama's government. He praised those participating in the daily demonstrations, describing them as the inspiration for Albanians seeking freedom and change.
"The Time of the Crooks Is Coming to an End"
Addressing fellow protesters, the speaker said that every person gathered in the square was a hero standing against corruption and injustice.
"Greetings to you, fighters for freedom. You are the inspiration of this Albania. I come from Vlora, and I am here every day. Our prime minister is a disgrace. This is the end of the era of crooks."
He urged citizens to unite instead of acting individually, stressing that only collective action could bring meaningful political change.
Criticism of Albania's Political Class
The protester criticized not only the current government but also Albania's broader political establishment over the past three decades.
According to him, successive governments have failed to build a state that genuinely cares about ordinary citizens and those living in poverty. He claimed that both current Prime Minister Edi Rama and former Prime Minister Sali Berisha belong to the same political culture and accused the country's political elite of serving their own interests rather than those of the Albanian people.
He described politicians as "snakes" and "hyenas" that have harmed Albania, while portraying the protesters as citizens standing against what he called the country's ongoing political decay.
Call for a Non-Partisan Movement
The speaker emphasized that the protest is driven by ordinary Albanians rather than political parties or personal ambitions for power.
He expressed confidence that public participation would continue to grow, saying the Albanian people have awakened and are determined to bring an end to what he referred to as "the era of the crooks."
Concluding his remarks, he voiced hope that Albania would finally be able to move forward toward a better future through unity, civic engagement, and political change.
