A major anti-narcotics operation conducted by the Tirana Police has led to the arrest of a 35-year-old man and the seizure of significant quantities of suspected cocaine, cannabis, cash, and a vehicle, in what authorities describe as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle drug distribution networks operating in and around the capital.
The operation, codenamed “Implikimi,” was executed by specialists from the Narcotics Investigation Section of the Tirana Police, focusing on identifying and bringing to justice individuals involved in the possession, transport, and sale of illegal narcotics across different areas of Tirana.
The arrested individual, identified as Erald Tafani, as local media reveals., 35 years old, resident of Tirana, was intercepted near a leisure unit in the village of Bërzhitë, a known area on the outskirts of the capital. According to police, he was found in possession of narcotics with the clear intent of distribution.
During the operation, officers carried out both a physical search and a search of the suspect’s residence, resulting in the seizure of:
- 833 grams of suspected cocaine
- 576 grams of suspected Cannabis Sativa
- €930 in cash, believed to be proceeds from drug sales
- A vehicle allegedly used in connection with the criminal activity
Authorities emphasize that the quantities of narcotics suggest preparation for distribution in significant amounts, with initial investigations indicating that the suspect intended to operate mainly in Bërzhitë and the Student City area of Tirana, both identified as active zones for street-level drug circulation.
The seized substances, money, and vehicle have been secured as material evidence. Police state that the operation is part of a broader strategy to disrupt individual and group-level drug trafficking activities that continue to affect various neighborhoods in the capital.
All procedural materials have been forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office of Tirana, where further legal actions will be undertaken in accordance with the law.
