Kosovo authorities have confirmed that a serious online threat targeting acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti is under active investigation, following an official statement issued by the Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Serious Crimes. According to investigators, the threatening post was traced to the territory of Serbia, specifically the city of Kraljevo.
The Kosovo Police announced that on May 8, 2026, the Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Serious Crimes officially received information regarding an online threat involving a call for the physical elimination of Kosovo’s acting Prime Minister, Albin Kurti. The threat was allegedly published on social media through a profile identified as “Severna Brigada,” also known as “Northern Brigade.”
Authorities noted that the organization has previously been designated as a terrorist organization by the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo. Following the report, police immediately launched intensive investigative actions in coordination with the Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo (PSRK). The investigation also received operational support from the Cybercrime Investigation Directorate.
According to the police statement, investigators confirmed that the threat was published through the Facebook account identified as “facebook.com/severna.brigada.2025.” Through digital forensic analysis and cyber investigation methods, authorities were able to trace the origin of the post.
Initial findings indicate that the publication was made from the territory of the Republic of Serbia, specifically from the city of Kraljevo. Kosovo Police stated that the IP address used in the publication has been identified, along with personal registration data associated with the account.
Law enforcement authorities further emphasized that additional digital evidence has been secured by competent investigative units. This information is expected to support the continuation of the investigation being conducted jointly by Kosovo Police and the Special Prosecution.
The case remains under active investigation as authorities continue efforts to identify all individuals involved and assess potential security implications.
