The World Congress of Law sessions will take place from May 6 to May 8 in Tirana and Berat, gathering nearly 600 legal personalities from Albania and abroad. The event is considered the opening session of the World Congress of Justice scheduled to be held in Albania in 2027.
The 2027 global congress is expected to bring together around 5,000 judges and heads of state, with plans to award what is widely referred to as the “Nobel of Justice.” The upcoming sessions in Albania mark an important preparatory phase for this major international legal gathering.
During the three-day program in Tirana, which also aligns with Albania’s Justice Week culminating on May 10, key activities will highlight legal achievements and ongoing reforms. On May 6, distinguished figures from the justice system, both Albanian and international, will be awarded the title of Honoris Causa in recognition of their contributions to the field.
On May 7 and May 8, the agenda will be officially opened by Albania’s Minister of Justice, Toni Gogu. High-level discussions will take place, focusing on the impact of the justice reform in Albania and the remaining challenges that need to be addressed. The sessions are expected to bring together senior legal experts and institutional representatives to exchange perspectives on the reform process.
One of the central topics of discussion will be the Vetting process, which has lasted nearly nine years. Participants will assess its outcomes, effectiveness, and institutional impact. The Vetting process is also expected to reach its concluding phase in June, marking a significant milestone in Albania’s judicial reform journey.
The event in Tirana and Berat is positioned as both a symbolic and practical step toward strengthening international judicial cooperation and preparing for the larger global congress in 2027.
