The Albanian State Police has officially released its operational traffic and security plan for the 83rd Tour of Albania, one of the country’s longest-running sporting events. The international cycling competition will take place from May 18 to May 22, 2026, covering five stages across some of Albania’s most important transport corridors, including Tirana, Lezhë, Elbasan, Vlorë, and Fier.

According to official statements, the event is being organized in cooperation with the Albanian Cycling Federation, the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sports, and local municipalities. Around 20 elite cycling teams from Albania, the Balkans, and across Europe are expected to participate. Authorities confirmed that traffic restrictions on most stages will begin at 12:00 local time, while the final stage on May 22 will start with road closures at 10:00.

The five-stage route will begin in Tirana and continue through Lezhë, Elbasan, Vlorë, the Albanian Riviera, and finally conclude in Fier. Police units, traffic officers, and support structures will be deployed throughout the route to ensure public safety, escort participating athletes, and maintain order during the international event.

The cycling tour is considered an important platform for promoting Albanian sport, tourism, and international visibility. Officials say this year’s edition is expected to receive broader media exposure and stronger international participation, reinforcing Albania’s efforts to elevate the professional profile of cycling in the region.
