The demonstration, organized by the opposition, escalated into confrontations near key government buildings, including the Prime Minister’s office. Authorities reported that some protesters attempted to use improvised incendiary devices, prompting a rapid police response to prevent further violence.

According to official statements, the seized Molotov cocktails were found ready for use, suggesting a level of premeditation behind the violent incidents. Police intervened early, managing to confiscate the devices before they could be deployed widely.

The operation also led to multiple detentions, as security forces worked to regain control of the situation.

The protest itself was marked by heightened tensions, with clashes between demonstrators and police involving the use of tear gas, water cannons, and physical confrontations. Reports indicate that Molotov cocktails and other pyrotechnic materials were thrown toward government buildings, intensifying the situation and raising concerns about public safety.

Authorities emphasized that such acts pose a serious threat to public order and institutional security, reiterating that violence will not be tolerated. The Ministry of Interior described the intervention as necessary to prevent escalation and protect both citizens and state infrastructure.
The incident adds to a series of recent protests in Albania that have been accompanied by sporadic violence, highlighting ongoing political tensions in the country. As investigations continue, questions remain about the organization behind the preparation of incendiary devices and the broader implications for future demonstrations.
