Albanian Police Seize Stolen Luxury Cars in Albania as “Stolen Line” Operation Expands

Albanian authorities have seized two additional luxury vehicles trafficked from Western Europe into Albania as part of the ongoing anti-crime operation “Stolen Line.”

Police confirmed that an “Audi SQ8” and a “BMW,” with a combined value of approximately €120,000, were confiscated after investigations revealed they had been stolen in Germany and Switzerland before being smuggled into Albania for resale. Two suspects, identified by initials H.P. (29) and K.B. (50), are now under criminal investigation for their alleged role in trafficking the vehicles.

According to the Albanian State Police, the operation is being carried out by the Section for the Investigation of Illegal Trafficking, targeting organized networks involved in moving stolen vehicles across borders into the Balkans region. The Audi SQ8, valued at around €70,000, was traced back to a theft in Germany, while the BMW, worth approximately €50,000, was confirmed stolen in Switzerland.

Authorities say the suspects are believed to have imported the vehicles into Albania with the intent to sell them on the domestic market, highlighting ongoing concerns about Albania being used as a transit and destination point for stolen vehicles originating in Western Europe.

The “Stolen Line” operation continues to uncover new cases, reflecting broader regional challenges in combating cross-border crime in the Balkans, including Kosovo and neighboring countries. Law enforcement agencies have emphasized increased cooperation and intelligence-sharing to dismantle these networks.
