Albanian Police Arrest Armed Man in Laç During “Siguria” Operation

 Albanian police have arrested a 30-year-old man in Laç after he was found carrying a firearm without a permit during a targeted security operation.

The suspect, identified as F.B., a resident of Milot in Kurbin, was apprehended following оператив intelligence indicating he was moving armed and driving a vehicle without license plates. The arrest was carried out by officers from the Kurbin Police Commissariat in cooperation with the Special Operational Force “Shqiponja,” as part of the coded operation “Siguria.”

During a search, authorities seized a pistol along with live ammunition, confirming that the weapon was being held illegally. The vehicle used by the suspect was also confiscated as part of the police action. Officials stated that the operation is part of intensified nationwide efforts to combat illegal weapons possession, a persistent concern in Albania and across the Balkans.

Law enforcement agencies in Albania have recently increased controls and rapid-response operations based on intelligence to prevent potential criminal incidents linked to unauthorized firearms. The case has been referred to the Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of General Jurisdiction in Lezhë for further legal proceedings.

The operation underscores ongoing efforts by Albanian authorities to improve public safety and reduce risks associated with illegal weapons, aligning with broader regional security priorities involving Kosovo and neighboring Balkan countries.
