Bologna Abandons Move for Kosovo Defender Dion Gallapeni Due to High Asking Price

In the final hours of the winter transfer window, the name of Dion Gallapeni emerged on the radar of Bologna, as the Italian club looked to reinforce the left side of its defense.

The 21-year-old Kosovo international was identified as an interesting option to strengthen Bologna’s defensive line. However, negotiations were quickly halted due to the high financial demands of his current club.

Gallapeni currently plays for Widzew Łódź in Poland, which has reportedly set an asking price of €8 million for the defender—an amount considered unaffordable for Bologna, effectively making the transfer impossible.

According to Transfermarkt, Gallapeni’s current market value stands at €2.5 million, a figure significantly lower than the price requested by the Polish club, reports A2 CNN.

The young defender joined Widzew Łódź last summer from FC Prishtina for a reported fee of €250,000. Since then, he has made 12 appearances, scoring one goal.

Gallapeni is also a regular member of the Kosovo national team, for which he has earned nine caps so far, although he has yet to score at international level.

Despite the failed move, Gallapeni’s rapid development and growing international experience suggest that interest from top European leagues could resurface in future transfer windows.
