According to police reports, the case was uncovered in the “10 Korriku” neighborhood, where officers conducted inspections targeting informal economic activity and the sale of contraband goods.

191 Smuggled Watches Seized

During a search of the subject’s business premises, authorities discovered and seized 191 wristwatches, suspected to be smuggled counterfeit products imitating various well-known brands. The items were confiscated as material evidence.

Police said the watches were being sold both in person and online, while the suspect — identified by the initials A. D. — failed to provide purchase invoices and did not issue fiscal receipts to customers.

Ongoing Crackdown on Economic Crime

The operation was carried out by specialists from the Economic and Financial Crime Investigation Sector, as part of wider inspections across the Berat district aimed at combating tax evasion, informal trade, and contraband products.

“The procedural materials were referred to the Berat Prosecutor’s Office, which has initiated criminal proceedings for further legal actions,” police said in an official statement, adding that controls against economic violations will continue.
