Montenegrin Soldier Disciplined for Using Provocative License Plates in Kosovo

A Montenegrin soldier has been disciplined by his country’s military after being arrested last year in Kosovo for using a car with provocative license plates that read: “Kosovo is Serbia.” Another soldier involved in the same case has since left military service.

The incident involves Rajko Krivokapić and Dragutin Llallatović, along with another Montenegrin citizen identified only by the initials M.J. The three men were arrested in November last year in the town of Deçan, Kosovo. They were detained until January, when the Special Prosecutor’s Office of Kosovo announced that it had dropped the investigation against them.

According to reports by Vijesti, Montenegro’s Ministry of Defense confirmed that disciplinary measures were taken in line with national law. While details were not made public, it is understood that Krivokapić received a fine and was sanctioned for traveling to Kosovo without informing his superiors in advance.

The group was initially arrested under suspicion of “inciting hatred and intolerance”, after being found traveling in a vehicle with plates carrying nationalist and offensive content directed against the state of Kosovo.

The case sparked strong reactions last year, highlighting the fragile interethnic relations in the region and underscoring the importance of responsible conduct by members of neighboring countries’ armed forces.
