Distria Krasniqi Crowned European Judo Champion in Zagreb

 In a stunning display of skill and determination, Distria Krasniqi of Kosovo has been declared the European champion in judo in the under 52-kilogram category at the European Judo Championships held in Zagreb, Croatia.

The Olympic champion clinched victory in the final by defeating the Italian judoka, Odette Giuffrida, with a waza-ari, showcasing her exceptional talent and prowess on the mat.

Krasniqi delivered a remarkable performance throughout the tournament, triumphing in each of her matchups with finesse and precision.

In the semifinals, the judoka from Peja, Kosovo, overcame Spain's Ariane Toro Soler to secure at least the silver medal, setting her sights on the gold in the final showdown.


Prior to her impressive victory, Krasniqi eliminated Croatian competitor Ana Viktorija in the quarterfinals, earning her spot among the top four European judokas in the under 52-kilogram category.

Her journey to the championship title saw her breeze through the initial rounds, defeating Ukrainian judoka Anna Borodina in the second round with ease.

Meanwhile, fellow Kosovar competitor Flaka Loxha faced an early exit from the competition, bowing out in the second round after a victory in the first, succumbing to Croatia's Tihea Topolovec.

Krasniqi's triumph not only highlights her individual prowess but also underscores Kosovo's growing presence and success on the international judo stage. As she basks in the glory of her European championship victory, her achievement serves as inspiration for aspiring judokas worldwide.
