All the miners who were trapped in the Trepça mine have been brought to the surface. The news was confirmed by the chairman of the Trepça workers' union, Ibrahim Jonuzi, Euronews reports.

He emphasized that around 40 miners were trapped in the Trepça mine, located in Stantërg, near Mitrovica, in the early morning hours of April 10th.

"Since 3 am, miners have been trapped on level 1 due to a power outage in the elevator," Jonuzi said. This level is located about 900 meters underground.

Jonuzi stressed that the miners were rescued through an alternative method, namely, by using the mechanical route through which minerals are extracted, instead of using the elevator.

He emphasized that the miners who were trapped did not express any health concerns after their rescue, except for general anxiety.

According to him, members of the Kosovo Police, Trepça management, emergency teams, and mobile teams for the rescue of trapped miners were present at the scene.

However, none of the Trepça leaders responded to Free Europe Radio's phone calls to explain the reasons for the elevator malfunction that prevented about 40 miners from exiting the mine, where they were trapped for about 14 hours.
