Crops production in Albania has more than doubled in recent years, according to statistics from the World Food Program, FAO.
According to statistics in 1980, 372 thousand hectares with crops were planted throughout the country, while the total production was over 800 thousand tons. On average, 2.3 tons of cereals were produced per hectare. While in 2019, 132 thousand hectares of land were planted with, from which 666 thousand tons were produced, according to state media.
The production per hectare was 5 tons or more than double of 1980, marking the largest area cultivated with crops ever in Albania.
