Albania aims to rebuild the railway system / 3 new lines with EU countries and Kosovo

 In the third term, the Government will invest in the resumption of railway transport.

Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Etjen Xhafaj announced that 3 new railway lines are expected to be built to connect with European Union countries and Kosovo, as state media reports.

"What is being prepared by the Ministry is the re-establishment of railways and further development in the other two segments Vora - Rrogozhina and Vora - Hani Hoti. The Rrogozhina-Pogradec project, both for the connection with Greece but also with North Macedonia, while the railway connection with Kosovo is in the current plans", said Xhafaj.

Xhafaj presented today before the European Integration Commission the innovations, goals, and objectives of the draft laws "On the establishment of the Railway Safety Authority", "On the establishment of the Railway Regulatory Authority", "On the division of the company" Albanian Railways "sh.a.", " For the establishment, organization and functioning of the National Authority for the Investigation of Railway and Marine Accidents and Incidents ”.

Deputy Minister Xhafaj clarified further that the establishment of railway regulatory bodies will make it possible to increase the initiatives of private entities of the country and foreign ones to participate with investments in this market.
