 Artan Hoxha has been elected Rector of the University of Tirana, succeeding Dhori Kule.

Hoxha managed to secure 54% of the votes. Specifically, 348 votes while the other candidate Mimoza Hafizi got 176 and Kozeta Sevrani 122.

While the counting of the votes of the professors is over, that of the students is still going on, but this does not affect the result as the weight of the student vote occupies 10%.

Voting centers for students and academic staff were opened in 12 public universities this morning, where voting time was from 8:00 am to 04:00 pm.

But who is Artan Hoxha?

Artan Hoxha completed his higher studies in law at the University of Tirana in 1983...

Currently, he is the Dean of the Faculty of Law of the University of Tirana, since 2016.

Hoxha started his professional career as a Sector Prosecutor in the Lushnja District Prosecutor's Office and was later appointed Prosecutor in the General Prosecutor's Office. During the period 1992 - 1994, he served as a Specialist in the Codification Directorate, in the Ministry of Justice and in the years 1997 - 1999 as Director of this Directorate. Subsequently, in the period 1999 - 2008 he was a Judge of the High Court.

Since 1997, he is an external lecturer at the School of Magistrates and since 1998 lecturer of the subject "Criminal Procedural Law" at the Faculty of Law.

Since 2004, he is a Council of Europe Expert in the field of criminal and judicial power for training at home and abroad.

He is a member of the Supervisory Council of the Bank of Albania since December 2018.
