Gianluca Baçhetta, the mayor of Divignano, aims to cover 600 kilometers on foot, giving a symbolic protest to the Italian government's decisions.

The Italian government took the decision to give 600 euros in compensation to all employees of closed businesses due to COVID-19.

He intends to return back the award to Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte and give a voice to the owners and entrepreneurs in the restaurant business. Starting on Friday, May 1, the first Piedmontese citizen of a municipality with 1400 inhabitants in the province of Novara and owner of the German restaurant and beer Edelstube in Pombia (Novara) is continuing on foot to Rome.

"I will give back the 600 euros to the Government, we need serious projects to deal with this situation and not charity on the part of the government," said one outraged mayor.
