MEP Rebecca Harms about the Deportation of Harun Çelik: Independent investigation urgently needed

 

 The deportation of Turkish teacher Harun Çelik from Albania to Turkey this Thursday continues to spark reactions. MEP Rebecca Harms has reacted harshly to the Albanian Government, condemning the expulsion of the teacher.

In a message on Twitter, the MEP writes in a bold tone that:

"An independent investigation of this case and similar cases of abductions of Turkish citizens abroad is urgently needed."

We remind that Harms is the second MEP to respond to the expulsion of Turkish national Harun Celik from Albania after MEP Ramona Strugariu.

She wrote on January 1:

 Prime Minister Edi Rama, Albania signed the CoE Convention on extradition. Moreover, you say Albania is ready for the EU. Then please follow art.19, al. 2 EU Charter of Fundamental Rights and do not extradite HarunÇelik to Turkey!
