Tirana is officially the winner of the European Youth Capital 2022
 
 Tirana has triumphed in Amiens, France, were among the 5 candidate cities it was officially declared European Youth Capital 2022! The beautiful news has been given today by the Mayor Erion Veliaj himself, who participated in the awards ceremony, where Tirana was praised for its focus on young people, starting with the youngest ones with kindergartens, schools, playgrounds to students with dormitory renovations, or the creation of a range of amenities that the student card has already turned into a reality.

“Tirana is officially the winner of the European Youth Capital 2022! Great news for the city and especially for the young people who will be the engine of the European Youth Year 2022 ”, writes Veliaj.

Tirana was selected as one of the five candidate cities to be selected as the European Capital of Youth 2022. Out of the ten European cities that applied, Tirana was ranked among the five finalist cities, alongside Kazan (Russia), Poznań (Poland), Varaždin (Croatia) and Baia Mare (Romania).

The finalist cities for EYC 2022 were selected by an independent panel of the European Parliament, the Committee of the Regions, the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, etc. The Municipality of Tirana has undertaken a number of initiatives in organizing and supporting youth activities such as: Tirana Art Fest, European Week, EU Education Open Days, Youth Start-Up Days, Youth Networking and Business Days.
