Criminal Buildings, You Don't dare to say this! Swiss living in Durrës 'explodes of fury'
The largest Swiss newspaper, Blick, writes that the blame for so many earthquake casualties in Albania lies with the construction.

Blick has interviewed a Swiss living in Durres with his wife, who is furious. Rolf Alther, 77, has been living with his Kosovar wife in Durres for five years.

"That shouldn't have happened," he shouts.

"This earthquake is not big enough to cause such great damage."

The problem is that no one here dares to say why there is such damage. "The cause of the collapses is bad and abusive construction."

Angry, he sent a photo to the newspaper of how his apartment and other buildings were damaged. The Swiss, who was once a political representative in a cantonal parliament, says these are criminal constructions.

“In Switzerland, the profit of a construction company for a project is six to seven percent, here it is 70 percent! Entrepreneurs here earn a lot of money at the expense of security."

Alther does not stop the explosion when he says the criminals will also benefit from the earthquake.

"Many states and individuals are sending donations for reconstruction that will end up in the pockets of these fraudsters," he says.

ETH Zurich professor Bozidar Stojadinovic also supports his theory of poor construction. He says that after carefully looking at the photos, he realizes that they are poor construction. According to him, they should collapse.

“They focus on short-term profit rather than thinking about tomorrow and investing in security. Modern buildings should be able to withstand an earthquake-like Tuesday's in Albania,” says the professor.
