About 2,000 Kosovars have given up their citizenship within two months

 
 Many people demanded they renounce Kosovo's citizenship, though some of the claims were accepted and some were not.

Within the three-month period, July-September, 1,726 decisions were filed in the Division of Citizenship for Renunciation of Citizenship in Kosovo.

Of these decisions, one thousand and 705 were positive, while the other 21 were negative, although in total there were 1906 requests.

Germany is the country with the highest number of citizens demanding their release from Kosovo citizenship.

Germany's 1,686 requests were made to release Kosovo citizenship, then 162 from Austria, 17 from Slovenia, 12 from Croatia, seven from Norway and 22 from other countries.

During the same monthly period in the Division of Citizenship 150 decisions were taken to acquire Kosovo citizenship.

68 of these decisions were positive, 82 negative while the total number of claims was 133.

The four nationalities who sought after to gain Kosovo citizenship are: Albanians: 133, Turkish: 42, Serbs: five, Bosniaks: four and other 74. A total of positive decisions were made for eight Albanians, one Serb and 59 others.
