Germany's first-instance Court in Dusseldorf has ruled in favor of the extradition of the owner of Arbi Garden, wherein the banana container of this company has been found by police 613 kg of cocaine.

Germany's Dusseldorf First Instance Criminal Court has paved the way for the extradition of Arber Cekaj to Albania. The decision was made 20 days ago. The owner of the Arbi Garden, whose container was seized at 613 kilograms of cocaine, has sought political asylum in Germany, a claim that has not yet been dealt with by the Dusseldorf Court.

This means that the timing of the businessman's extradition cannot be determined. Sources have also confirmed that the businessman has made numerous requests to German justice authorities to prevent the extradition. Çekaj has been in Germany for more than a year and a half and has applied for asylum with the argument that his life is in danger in Albania.

Arber Çekaj is under investigation by the Serious Crimes Prosecution for the record amount of cocaine ever seized in our country. Three months ago, the Prosecutor of the case Edvin Kondili traveled to Germany to formally communicate the allegations to the owner of Arbi Garden.

The arrested persons related to this case in Albania are Donaldo Lushaj, the manager of Arbi Garden and Armando Pezaku - the banana container driver who transported the bananas from the port of Durres to the warehouses in Maminas.

Arber Çekaj is also wanted by Ecuador authorities for cocaine trafficking. The Serious Crimes Prosecution Office is investigating to find out who were the consignors of 613kg of cocaine seized in a banana container from Colombia in  Albania, and then to the European Union countries.
