Albania's Foreign Minister and Gent Cakaj and his Kosovar counterpart Behgjet Pacolli signed an inter-ministerial agreement on diplomatic missions on Tuesday in Tirana.

Gent Cakaj hosted a meeting with Behgjet Pacolli, while an inter-ministerial agreement on the merger of diplomatic and consular missions was signed between the two countries for strategic cooperation in the field of foreign policy.

The ministers Cakaj and Pacolli after signing the agreement held a joint press conference focusing on co-operation between the two countries and other issues.

During the speech at the conference, Cakaj said that today was signed an agreement on the establishment of institutional mechanisms in order to bring closer the mutual interests between the two countries.

"Today's agreement is built on several pillars. The first is the political pillar, which aims to improve the need to expand our political network and increase diplomatic representation to respond to the challenges of our countries in the international arena. The second is the diplomatic pillar, where we have agreed to set up a joint fund for the development of joint embassies and consulates in the world. The third is the professional pillar, which aims to increase the skills in the diplomatic service," said Cakaj.

Cakaj said that Albania and Kosovo from now on will start working on having joint embassies and consulates in the world.
