Ava Max: I feel Albanian. My parents taught me never to give up
Ava Max  (Amanda Koçi)

Ava Max, the pseudonym of Amanda Koçi, is born in the United States (in Milwaukee) to immigrant Albanian (from Saranda) parents. His name of art, as the singer himself reported, represents both the female world (Ava) and the male world (Max).

His career took off thanks to a casual meeting with the well-known Canadian producer Cirkut - the artistic name of Henry Walter - who has previously collaborated with Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus and Rihanna. However, his real ascent began at the end of last year, thanks to her hit "Sweet But Psycho" which reached 250 million views on YouTube.

His Albanian origins

"I feel really Albanian. I'm lucky to be from a village of very strong women. My grandmother, my mom, my aunt, they always said everything they thought about their husbands.

I've always noticed this and I've always particularly liked it. I was lucky. But, through music, I hope to be able to share this with those who haven't had the same luck." Said Ava Max in an interview for Glamor magazine.

Emigration to the United States

"I sometimes felt rejected because I am Albanian. I didn't feel an integral part of society especially when I lived in South Carolina. However, I later realized that I had to continue in my own way despite everything."

Admiration for his parents

"My father and mother did three jobs when I was a child. I hardly ever saw them, I lived with my grandmother. I was ten when they bought their first home.

I saw with my own eyes all the battles they had to face, because life is sometimes unfair. Their example taught me never to give up.” Concluded the Albanian-born singer
