Protests in Tirana's 'Great Ring', 300 homes and businesses to be destroyed

 The residents of the 'New Ring' road of Tirana protested at the project that foresees the demolition of their homes and businesses at the axis from the "Palace with Arrows" to the "Eagle Square" near the customs.

Residents say that five days ago there have been placed some landmarks by the Albanian Road Authority. This segment is part of the "Great Ring" road of Tirana.

The protest of these residents lasted nearly one hour, while the traffic police intervened to restore normality.


Meanwhile the construction of the Great Ring costs over 210 million euros and according to the General Director of Roads, the project includes the construction of the entire Tirana Ring Road and full rehabilitation of the first open segment from the "Palace with Arrows" to the "Eagle Square". 

The works will last about 2 years, while the traffic management with be a challange.
