Although the President Meta refused to decree the Interior Minister; Sandër Lleshi is appointed based on Government's 'Plan B'

The post of the Interior Minister created another clash between the Presidency and the government. Although the Albanian President Ilir Meta rejected the Governemt's candidacy, the Prime Minister Edi Rama did not gave up and insisted in the name of Sandër Lleshi. Sources from the Socialist Party meeting held this morning said to Oculus News that the General Sandër Lleshi will be appointed Deputy Minister but will enjoy the powers of the Interior Minister.

According to sources, the Parliament is expected to meet on Tuesday in an extraordinary session at 10:00 am to vote on President Meta's decree on dismissing Fatmir Xhafaj after his resignation as Interior Minister.

The Government's Plan B comes after the rejection of the President of the Republic, Ilir Meta, not to decree the General Sander Lleshi as Interior Minister.

The press office announced that President Meta did not created the conviction to enlist Lleshi as the new Interior Minister.

"The President of the Republic, Mr. Z. Ilir Meta has not established full conviction to give credence to the candidacy of Mr. Sandër Lleshi as interior minister" - is stated in the brief announcement of the Presidency.

A week ago, exactly on Saturday, October 27, Rama announced that after Fatmir Xhafaj's resignation he had appointed the General Sandër Lleshi in the post of Interior Minister. Shortly after the resignation, Meta decreed the dismissal of Xhafaj, but not the appointment of Lleshi.
