Xhafaj asks a full-time FBI agent to assist Albanian Police

 On the third day, within the official visit to Washington, the Interior Minister of Albania Fatmir Xhafaj met at the headquarters of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) with FBI Deputy Director David L. Bowdich.

At the meeting were also present the General Director of State Police Ardi Veliu and the team of the Ministry and the State Police that accompanies them.

Dozens of analytical and informational documents on the fight against organized crime, drugs including cultivation and trafficking of cannabis, corruption, radicalism and violent extremism are shared with senior FBI representatives - the Ministry reports.

At this meeting, a request was made by the Interior Minister: he asked to FBI leaders a full-time agent from them in Albania to assist the police investigation structures.

The FBI deputy director, Mr. Bowdichu, says he sees the request positively and "will discuss it to assess the concrete possibilities of this request" - according to the official announcement of the meeting.

In conclusion, the Interior Minister invited Bowdich to visit Tirana, an invitation he accepted.
