Kosovo Air Travel Surges: 475,269 Passengers and 3,254 Flights in July 2026

Kosovo recorded a significant increase in air travel during July 2026, while passenger numbers in the railway sector declined compared with the same period a year earlier, according to monthly data published by the Kosovo Agency of Statistics (ASK).

During July, a total of 3,254 flights were operated, carrying 475,269 passengers. The number of flights increased by 4.5 percent compared with July 2025, when 3,114 flights were recorded.

The number of air passengers also increased, rising by 3.8 percent year on year. In July 2025, Kosovo's air transport recorded 457,984 passengers, meaning that this year's figure represents an increase of 17,285 passengers.

Of the total number of passengers recorded in July 2026, 288,017 were arrivals, while 187,252 were departures.

Passenger arrivals increased by 4.5 percent, from 275,603 in July 2025 to 288,017 this year. Departures, meanwhile, rose by 2.7 percent, from 182,381 to 187,252.

The figures show that air transport continued to record higher activity during one of the busiest travel periods of the year, with both flight operations and passenger numbers above the levels recorded in July 2025.

The situation was different in Kosovo's railway transport.

According to ASK, only 7,126 passengers used railway transport in July 2026, representing a 5.9 percent decline compared with July 2025.

ASK also reported that no goods were transported by rail during July 2026.

The contrasting figures underline the different trends in Kosovo's two main forms of passenger transport. While air travel recorded year-on-year growth, railway passenger numbers moved in the opposite direction.

Mobile and fixed-line telecommunications also increase

ASK's July data also show growth in several areas of telecommunications.

The number of prepaid mobile telephone users reached 1,679,450, an increase of 3.55 percent compared with July 2025. The number of mobile users with contracts stood at 323,728, representing an annual increase of 1.37 percent.

Fixed-line telephone users also increased. ASK recorded 70,104 fixed-line users in July 2026, up 3.2 percent compared with the same month of the previous year.

Fixed-line telephone traffic also increased significantly. A total of 2,318,571 minutes of fixed-line traffic were recorded during July, representing a 9.7 percent increase year on year.

Overall, the July 2026 statistics point to increased activity in Kosovo's air transport and telecommunications sectors, while railway passenger transport continued to register a decline.
