An Albanian woman has been hailed as a hero in New Jersey after risking her own safety to save an 8-year-old boy from drowning in the ocean.

The incident happened on September 7 at Long Branch Beach, where Xhenana Lanica was spending the day with her family. She heard two children, aged around 8 and 10, screaming for help after being caught in a strong current.
Without hesitation, Xhenana entered the water and reached the younger boy, helping him safely back to shore. Another man rescued his older brother.
Both children were eventually reunited safely with their family.
Xhenana Lanica's courageous action has turned her into a symbol of bravery and humanity, showing how one decisive act can save a life.
