Authorities have launched an operation against illegal construction in Karaburun, one of the most protected and scenic coastal areas near Vlora, with an illegally built wooden beach bar demolished and one person arrested.

The operation was attended by Albanian State Police Director General Skender Hita and IKMT Chief Inspector Afrim Qendro, who oversaw the demolition of the illegal structure.
Police said the wooden beach bar was being constructed by two individuals identified by the initials S. D. and O. Sh. According to authorities, both had previously been subject to criminal proceedings and had exceeded the deadline given for voluntary demolition of the structure.
During the operation, S. D. was arrested, while his alleged partner, O. Sh., was declared wanted as police continue efforts to locate him.
The Albanian authorities said the operation sends a clear warning to anyone considering unauthorized construction, particularly in environmentally sensitive and protected coastal areas.
Police and IKMT officials urged citizens not to undertake construction projects without the necessary legal permits, warning that violations will face legal consequences.
Meanwhile, the Vlora Local Police Directorate said investigative activities are continuing to identify and bring before justice other individuals who may have been responsible for allowing or authorizing construction in violation of the law.
The Karaburun Peninsula is known for its relatively untouched coastline and protected natural environment, making unauthorized construction and unregulated tourism development a particularly sensitive issue in the area.
The investigation remains ongoing.
