Albanian Post Director Elisabeta Mataj Dismissed and Reported Over Alleged €3 Million Financial Irregularities in Durrës

Elisabeta Mataj, the director of the Albanian Post branch in Durrës, has been dismissed from her position and referred to prosecutors following the discovery of alleged financial irregularities involving approximately €3 million, local media reports.

According to preliminary information, internal inspections at the Durrës branch uncovered significant irregularities in the management of funds related to payment services. The findings prompted the Albanian Post to take immediate administrative action against the employees believed to be responsible.

Following the inspection, the case was formally referred to the prosecution authorities, who have launched an investigation to determine how the funds were managed and whether the suspected financial damage—estimated at around €3 million—can be substantiated.

Investigators are expected to examine financial records, internal procedures, and the responsibilities of those involved as part of the ongoing inquiry.

At this stage, the allegations remain under investigation, and no final judicial conclusions have been reached. Authorities are expected to release further details as the case progresses.
