38-Year-Old Man from Vlora Arrested in Himara with Handgun, Grenade and Body Armor During “Siguria 2” Operation

 A 38-year-old man from the city of Vlora has been arrested by Himara Police after officers discovered a handgun and a grenade in his possession during a targeted law enforcement operation.

The operation, codenamed "Siguria 2" (Security 2), was carried out as part of intensified efforts to crack down on criminal activity in the area.

According to police, the suspect, identified by the initials E.H., has previous criminal convictions for offenses against the person. He was stopped while driving near the area known as "Kthesa e Pilurit" (Pilur Bend) in Himara.

During a search of his bag, officers found a handgun loaded with a magazine of ammunition and a hand grenade.

Police later searched the suspect's residence in Vlora, where they seized another handgun, additional magazines and ammunition, two bulletproof vests, and two tactical vests.

Authorities also confiscated both firearms, the grenade, ammunition, all four vests, the suspect's vehicle, and two mobile phones as material evidence.

The procedural materials have been referred to the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction in Vlora. The suspect faces charges of illegal possession and manufacture of firearms, explosive weapons and ammunition, as well as unauthorized possession of an official uniform under Albanian law.

The investigation is ongoing as authorities seek to determine whether the seized weapons were intended for use in further criminal activities or are linked to other ongoing investigations.
