Independent Albanian MP Marjana Koçeku has launched a strong attack on Prime Minister Edi Rama's government, arguing that Albania needs a complete transformation of its political culture rather than simply a change in political leadership.
Speaking in a recent interview, Koçeku said the current government is incapable of delivering the reforms the country urgently needs, insisting that replacing politicians alone will not solve Albania's long-standing challenges.

"This government cannot do it," Koçeku said, arguing that Albania requires "not simply a change of individuals, but the renewal of the entire political culture." She added that lasting change cannot be achieved if the same governing practices and mentality continue.
The independent lawmaker emphasized that politicians must have the courage to act according to their principles and convictions instead of party interests, describing this as essential for restoring public trust in politics.
Koçeku also addressed Albanians who have taken part in recent protests, encouraging them not to lose faith in peaceful civic action.
"Your voices matter, and you should never believe that peaceful civic engagement is pointless. You are not alone. You now have a mandate in Parliament," she said.
She further revealed that since leaving the Socialist Party she has received thousands of messages of support from Albanians both inside the country and from the diaspora. According to Koçeku, many citizens see her decision as proof that Albanian politics can still be guided by principles rather than partisan interests.
Koçeku's remarks add to the ongoing political debate in Albania, where governance, institutional reform, and public accountability remain central issues amid growing calls for change
