A surprising and alarming scene unfolded in the heart of Fier on Tuesday afternoon when a large snake was spotted moving through a sidewalk area near the city center, triggering fear and concern among local residents.
Residents who observed the animal said it appeared to be a non-aggressive species. Nevertheless, its presence in such a heavily frequented urban location caused understandable alarm, especially among families and parents whose children regularly spend time in the area during the afternoon hours.
The incident has reignited concerns about wildlife entering populated zones from nearby natural habitats. Citizens are now calling on local authorities and responsible institutions to take preventive measures and increase monitoring around the riverbank to reduce the risk of similar encounters in the future.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported. However, witnesses described moments of tension as people quickly distanced themselves from the area until the reptile eventually left the zone.
The appearance of a large snake in one of Fier's busiest public spaces serves as a reminder of the challenges that can arise when urban areas and natural environments exist in close proximity. While experts note that many snake species found in Albania are not aggressive toward humans, unexpected encounters in crowded locations can still cause significant fear and disruption.
Authorities have not yet released further information regarding the species involved or whether additional monitoring measures will be implemented following the incident.
