A 22-year-old man has been arrested in Tirana after allegedly impersonating a police officer and presenting officers with an identification document that did not belong to the Albanian State Police.
According to authorities, the suspect was stopped while driving when he identified himself as a police officer and showed the document during the police check. Officers quickly determined that the identification was not issued by the State Police.
Following his arrest, officers searched the suspect's home, where they seized ammunition of various calibers, a significant amount of cash, and two medallions bearing the inscription "Albanian State Police."
The seized items were taken as evidence, while the case has been referred to the Prosecutor's Office for further legal proceedings.
In an official statement, Tirana Police said the suspect, identified by the initials E. J., 22, was arrested in flagrante delicto after attempting to mislead officers by falsely claiming to be a member of the Albanian State Police.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the case.
