According to the available information, Albania’s National Food Authority (AKU) immediately launched inspections at both the Police Academy and the catering facility responsible for preparing and supplying meals to the institution. Inspectors collected food samples for laboratory analysis, including products served as part of the breakfast menu.
Authorities are also examining whether the contamination may have occurred during lunch, as investigators work to determine the exact source of the suspected poisoning. In addition to food samples, water used within the facility has also been sent for laboratory testing as part of the broader investigation.
It has also been learned that the same catering company supplying meals to the Police Academy is also responsible for food distribution to “Shefqet Ndroqi” Hospital, adding further attention to the case as food safety authorities continue their checks.
AKU inspectors carried out extensive on-site controls both at the food production facility and inside the Police Academy campus. The inspection process reportedly began at 19:30 in the evening and continued until 05:30 on Thursday morning, reflecting the seriousness of the situation and the urgency of identifying any potential public health risks.
All collected samples have been sent to ISUV for detailed analysis, while officials await the official laboratory results that are expected to clarify the cause of the incident. Until the results are released, authorities continue to monitor the situation closely.
