The incident gained public attention after a video circulated on social media showing a group of eight individuals standing on the balcony of a hotel room. In the footage, one member of the group could be seen aggressively waving the flag of Republika Srpska, an act that reportedly caused concern among bystanders and authorities.
According to police findings, the provocation escalated further as nationalist Serbian songs associated with Chetnik symbolism were reportedly played at high volume from the hotel balcony, disturbing guests and the surrounding public area.
Croatian police responded quickly after the footage emerged, identifying those involved and launching immediate proceedings. Authorities confirmed that the 23-year-old was sanctioned for violating public order laws, issued a financial penalty, and expelled from Croatian territory. In addition, he was reportedly banned from re-entering Croatia for a specified period.
The case has sparked wider discussion online about the handling of nationalist provocations in tourist destinations, especially during public holidays when coastal regions in Croatia attract thousands of visitors from across Europe and the Balkans.
Croatian authorities have not indicated further arrests at this stage, but the incident has once again highlighted the country’s zero-tolerance approach toward actions that threaten public order, ethnic harmony, or the safety of tourists in popular Adriatic destinations.
