Alis Kallaçi Receives BBC Praise for Eurovision Performance of “Nân” in Vienna

Albanian representative Alis Kallaçi has received international acclaim after his emotional Eurovision performance of “Nân” at the Grand Final in Vienna.

At the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 Final, held at the Wiener Stadthalle, Albanian artist Alis Kallaçi delivered a widely discussed live performance of the ballad “Nân,” which was later highlighted by the BBC for its emotional depth and cultural storytelling.

BBC music correspondent Mark Savage described the staging as “a deeply emotional performance that communicates beyond language barriers,” praising the atmospheric visuals and minimalist staging that reinforced the song’s narrative of family separation and migration. The performance stood out in a competition known for its high production value and diverse musical styles.

The BBC analysis also emphasized the symbolic presence of acclaimed Albanian actress Rajmonda Bulku on stage, noting that her role added significant emotional weight to the performance. According to the commentary, her portrayal strengthened the song’s central theme of a mother waiting for her child’s return, a motif deeply rooted in Albanian social experience and widely understood across diasporic communities.

Written and composed by Alis Kallaçi in collaboration with Desara Gjini, with production by Erjet Barbullushi, “Nân” has been recognized by international critics as one of the most authentic entries of this Eurovision edition. The performance has further elevated Albania’s visibility on the global music stage, drawing attention not only to its artistic quality but also to its cultural and emotional storytelling.
