 A 53-year-old van driver from Durrës, Robert Cangolli, has died after falling from a steep rocky terrain while accompanying tourists near the Sotira Waterfall.

The tragic incident occurred around 13:00 in the Sotira area, near the village of Dardhë, located on the border between the Berat County and Elbasan County. According to initial reports, Cangolli had transported a group of foreign tourists to the popular natural attraction and was accompanying them during a walk when he allegedly lost his balance and fell.

Authorities say the victim sustained severe injuries due to the fall, which proved fatal at the scene. Emergency services were alerted immediately, but he could not be saved. The area is known for its rugged terrain and increasing tourist activity, particularly during the spring and summer seasons.

Police units arrived promptly and have launched an investigation to fully document the circumstances surrounding the incident. The victim’s body has been transported to the Berat Regional Hospital morgue for forensic examination.

The incident highlights ongoing safety concerns in Albania’s growing adventure tourism sector, where infrastructure and protective measures remain limited in certain remote locations.
