The incident occurred in the Cossombrato area of Asti, where the victims—identified as Astrit Koni and Drita Koni (Meçollari), both of Albanian origin—had lived for over two decades. According to initial reports from Italian media, the attacker entered a local castle where he worked as a gardener and accessed a tower using keys in his possession, avoiding suspicion before carrying out the crime.

Authorities say the bodies of the victims were discovered later in the morning in a ditch near a field containing beehives the couple reportedly cared for. The alarm was raised by the woman’s brother, who grew concerned after losing contact with her. Investigators found an agricultural tool, believed to have been used in the fatal assault, near the scene.

Shortly after the killings, the suspect reportedly climbed the castle tower and took his own life by jumping from a height. Italian Carabinieri have launched a full investigation to determine the exact sequence of events and confirm the motive, which early indications suggest was fueled by jealousy and personal conflict.

This tragic case has shocked both the local Italian community and the Albanian diaspora, highlighting ongoing concerns around domestic violence and unresolved personal disputes.
