Albania–Poland Social Security Agreement: Government Ratifies Deal Benefiting Diaspora in Europe

The Albanian government has ratified a new social security agreement with Poland, enabling the mutual recognition of contribution years for citizens working between the two countries.

The agreement marks a significant step forward for Albanians living and working abroad, particularly in Poland, by ensuring that their pension contributions in both countries are recognized. This development is expected to provide greater financial security and protect social rights for members of the diaspora.

Officials highlighted that this is the 21st such agreement Albania has signed with countries hosting Albanian communities, reinforcing its broader strategy to support citizens abroad. It is also the 10th agreement concluded with a member of the European Union, underlining Albania’s continued alignment with European standards.

The deal allows individuals who have worked in both Albania and Poland to combine their contribution periods when calculating pensions and other social benefits. This is particularly important for migrant workers who often divide their careers across multiple countries.
The ratification reflects ongoing efforts by the Albanian government to strengthen ties with the diaspora and advance European integration, offering more concrete protections and long-term stability for its citizens abroad.
