In a heartbreaking incident that has shaken both the Albanian community and workers’ rights advocates, a 52-year-old Albanian construction worker lost his life after falling from a scaffold in Modena, Italy. The tragedy occurred early on the morning of March 20, 2026, in the historic centre of Modena, leaving behind grieving family and raising pressing questions about workplace safety abroad.
The victim, Murat Tafçiu, a resident of Cavezzo, was working at a construction site involved in renovating parts of the historic city centre when the accident happened. Fellow workers reportedly called Italy’s emergency number, and medical teams responded promptly, but Tafçiu succumbed to severe injuries at the scene.
