In the world of Albanian martial arts, two young names are increasingly capturing attention: Loridla and Aiden Hysa. Brother and sister, united not only by blood but by discipline, passion, and an unbreakable competitive spirit, they are emerging as some of the brightest talents in Albanian taekwondo.
Multiple-time national champions and successful participants in European, Balkan, and World Championships, Loridla and Aiden are proudly representing Albania on the international sports stage. Their journey is one of early dedication, family discipline, sacrifice, and a clear vision for the future.
A Family Rooted in Taekwondo
For Loridla and Aiden, taekwondo is not just a sport — it is a way of life.
Loridla began training at just two and a half years old, while Aiden stepped onto the mat at the age of three. Their coach was none other than their father, who introduced them to the discipline at a very young age.
“It was difficult in the beginning,” they both admit. “Our coach is very strict in training. It was hard, but for me it helped. It made me stronger and taught me discipline.”
That early exposure to structured training built the foundation of their success. Discipline, focus, and resilience became core values that shaped not only their athletic careers but also their personalities.
Early Success and Strong Emotions
Loridla’s competitive breakthrough came at just six years old.
“The first time I participated in a championship, I was six years old and I won first place. The emotions were very strong,” she recalls.
Aiden followed closely behind. At seven years old, he claimed victory at the Albanian National Championship.
“The first time I won was when I was seven, at the National Championship of Albania,” Aiden says proudly.
From that moment on, the path was clear: competition after competition, medal after medal.
Loridla Hysa: A Trailblazer in Albanian Taekwondo
Loridla has established herself as one of the most accomplished young female taekwondo athletes in Albania.
She has been awarded eight times as the Best Technical Athlete in Albania — an impressive recognition that highlights not only victories but technical excellence.
In 2023, she represented Albania at the World Championship in Bosnia and Herzegovina. There, she achieved a historic milestone.
“It was the first time Albania won a match at a World Championship — and that was me,” she says with pride. “I was the first Albanian girl to win a taekwondo match at that level.”
This achievement marked an important moment for Albanian taekwondo, signaling progress and growing competitiveness on the global stage.
Loridla also competed at the European Championship and the Balkan Championship, where she defeated a Serbian opponent — a victory she describes as particularly meaningful.
“I felt like I defeated an opponent I really wanted to see below me — and I achieved that.”
Her emotional honesty is equally inspiring. She openly speaks about tears after defeats, frustration over mistakes, and the lessons learned from setbacks.
“We have cried. There’s that sadness when you ask yourself, ‘Why didn’t I win? Why did I make that mistake?’ But everyone learns from mistakes.”
Despite the emotional ups and downs, Loridla considers herself among the best female taekwondo athletes in Albania and is determined to continue pushing forward.
Her message to young Albanians is clear: “Young people should start. They should participate more in taekwondo. It’s a beautiful sport.”
Aiden Hysa: Focused on National and European Glory
Not to be outshined, Aiden Hysa has built an impressive record of his own.
He has been a three-time National Champion and, in total, has claimed the title of champion ten times across various competitions.
In 2025, he competed at the Balkan Championship, where he secured third place — a significant accomplishment at a highly competitive regional level.
“My goals are to win at the National, European, and Balkan Championships,” Aiden states confidently.
He also emphasizes that Albania is currently well-ranked in taekwondo, reflecting the steady growth of the sport in the country.
In school, Aiden stands out.
“I’m the only one in my class who practices martial arts. Everyone says I’m a champion — and I really am,” he says with youthful determination.
The Growing Popularity of Taekwondo in Albania
Taekwondo has steadily gained popularity in Albania over the past decade, with increased participation in Balkan and European competitions. Young athletes like Loridla and Aiden Hysa are helping to elevate the country’s profile in martial arts.
Internationally, the sport is governed by World Taekwondo, which organizes major competitions including the World Championships and Olympic qualification events.
Their participation in events such as the World Championship in Bosnia and Herzegovina demonstrates Albania’s growing ambition in the sport.
With more young athletes entering the field and achieving success abroad, Albania’s reputation in taekwondo continues to strengthen.
Beyond Medals: Character, Discipline, and National Pride
What makes Loridla and Aiden’s story powerful is not only their medal count but their mindset.
They speak openly about discipline, strict training, emotional struggles, and the importance of learning from defeat. They support each other as siblings, pushing one another to reach higher levels.
“As a sister, I always want to see my brother higher. I want to see him achieving more,” says Loridla.
Their journey reflects the essence of martial arts: respect, perseverance, and continuous self-improvement.
For Albania, stories like theirs matter deeply. In a country eager to see its youth excel internationally, Loridla and Aiden Hysa symbolize dedication, national pride, and the power of family support.
A Bright Future Ahead
With multiple national titles, Balkan podium finishes, and historic achievements at the World Championship level, the future looks promising for these young champions.
Their goals are clear: European titles, Balkan dominance, and continued national success.
For Albanian parents seeking sports that build character, discipline, and confidence, taekwondo offers an inspiring path — and Loridla and Aiden Hysa are living proof of what dedication can achieve.
As they continue their journey, one thing is certain: Albania will be watching — and cheering.
