A 45-year-old man has died in hospital after being critically wounded in a firearm attack outside his home, following a violent dispute reportedly sparked by a romantic conflict.
Denis Çumani, a resident of Shijak, succumbed to his injuries after spending four days in critical condition in hospital. He had been shot late on Tuesday evening, January 27, at the entrance of his residence.
According to police information, two cousins, Dorian Ferra and Indrit Ferra, went to Çumani’s home on the night of the incident. The confrontation escalated quickly, with the suspects allegedly assaulting him physically before opening fire. The bullet reportedly passed through Çumani’s body, causing severe and life-threatening injuries.
Investigators say the conflict originated over a woman. Çumani had allegedly sent her messages, despite the fact that she was in a relationship with Dorian Ferra. A few days before the shooting, the woman had met with Ferra and the two had spent time at a local café. During that meeting, she reportedly received further messages from Çumani, which were noticed by Ferra.
After escorting the woman home, Dorian Ferra is said to have contacted his cousin Indrit, and together they went to Çumani’s residence, where the fatal confrontation occurred.
Both suspects have since been declared wanted by police, who are continuing efforts to locate and arrest them. Authorities have not released further details, citing the ongoing investigation.
The incident has once again raised concerns over violent crime linked to personal disputes, as local residents expressed shock over the deadly outcome of what began as a personal conflict.
