A controversial incident overshadowed the UEFA Europa League match between Celta Vigo and Crvena Zvezda in Belgrade, which ended in a 1–1 draw and saw the Spanish side secure a place in the play-offs.
During the match, a group of Celta Vigo supporters displayed a banner showing the map of Kosovo painted in the colors and symbols of the Serbian flag. The act was widely perceived as a political and provocative message, particularly given the sensitive context and the location of the match in Serbia.
The incident was further escalated by chants of “Kosovo is Serbia”, drawing strong reactions and criticism.
It remains unclear whether UEFA will open an investigation or impose disciplinary measures on the Spanish club over the incident. So far, no official statement has been made regarding potential sanctions.
