Sa’ar expressed his deep appreciation for Albania’s unwavering friendship with Israel, describing the Balkan nation as a true moral ally.
“This is another step toward strengthening the friendship between our countries,” said Sa’ar in a post on X (formerly Twitter). “We highly value Albania’s consistent friendship and its clear moral dimension in foreign policy, under the leadership of Prime Minister Edi Rama.”
New Memoranda for Diplomatic Cooperation
The two memoranda signed in Jerusalem aim to build long-term collaboration between Albania and Israel in the fields of diplomatic training, communication, and public diplomacy.
Under these agreements, young Albanian diplomats will have the opportunity to train in Israel, gaining valuable experience from one of the world’s most advanced diplomatic systems.
The agreements also include initiatives to improve information exchange, media relations, and strategic communication in international affairs.
Spiropali emphasized that Albania is committed to deepening its partnership with Israel not only through government dialogue but also by fostering stronger ties between institutions, innovators, and citizens of both countries.
Meetings with Top Israeli Officials
During her official visit, Minister Spiropali met with Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar and Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana. Both sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to peace, stability, and regional cooperation.
In her remarks, Spiropali highlighted the importance of the 20-point Peace Plan proposed by former U.S. President Donald Trump, describing it as a framework that could promote coexistence and long-term security in the Middle East.
“Guided by our common commitment to peace, we strongly believe that President Trump’s 20-point peace plan has the potential to bring lasting stability and foster peaceful coexistence between Israelis and Palestinians. Let this moment mark a new chapter—not only for Israel but for the entire region,” Spiropali stated.
Honoring Albania’s Historic Solidarity with the Jewish People
Minister Spiropali also recalled Albania’s remarkable humanitarian legacy during World War II, when the country became a safe haven for Jews escaping the Holocaust.
“Guided by our eternal code of honor, Besa, we sheltered every Jewish family that sought refuge among us,” she said. “Albania became the only country in Europe where the Jewish population increased during the Holocaust. This is a legacy we continue to honor and preserve with pride.”
This enduring moral connection between the Albanian and Jewish peoples has long been a foundation of mutual respect and solidarity — a bond that continues to strengthen diplomatic relations today.
Acknowledgment of Israel’s Support and Kosovo’s Recognition
Spiropali also thanked the State of Israel for its recognition of the Republic of Kosovo, underscoring that such gestures reflect Israel’s understanding of regional dynamics and its commitment to stability in the Western Balkans.
She expressed Albania’s willingness to continue promoting peaceful dialogue, innovation, and cooperation in areas that matter to both nations — from technology to cultural exchange.
Expanding Cooperation in Key Sectors
Albania and Israel are steadily expanding collaboration in innovation, education, tourism, health, and agriculture.
Spiropali emphasized that Albania is proud to learn from Israel’s excellence in science and technology, areas where Israel has become a global leader.
“We are proud to learn from Israel’s excellence in technology and science. Albania is a country of growing potential, strategically positioned between Europe and the Mediterranean,” she added.
These partnerships aim not only to strengthen government relations but also to create new opportunities for businesses, researchers, and young professionals in both nations.
Building Bridges for the Future
During her meeting with Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana, the two officials reaffirmed mutual support for initiatives promoting regional cooperation and youth engagement.
Spiropali called for the creation of more programs that connect young innovators, artists, and entrepreneurs from both countries.
“Let us continue to build more bridges, more partnerships, and more opportunities for our youth, our innovators, our artists, and our entrepreneurs,” she said in her closing remarks.
The visit concluded with a strong message of friendship, shared values, and common goals, reinforcing the growing role of both countries in promoting peace, innovation, and cultural exchange in the Mediterranean and beyond.
A Friendship Rooted in Shared Values
The relationship between Albania and Israel has long been characterized by mutual respect and deep historical ties. Albania’s stance during the Holocaust, its consistent support for peace, and its moral-driven foreign policy have made it a respected friend of the Jewish state.
As Israel and Albania continue to expand their cooperation across multiple fields, their partnership stands as a model of diplomacy built on integrity, gratitude, and shared vision.
