Serious Abuse Case in Këlcyrë: Two Police Officers Implicated in Sexual Exploitation of a Minor

According to the official statement from the Gjirokastër Prosecutor’s Office, the minor was first abused by her stepfather, an officer serving at the Përmet police station. Later, she was also abused by another police officer from Tepelenë, identified as Artur Ago, 53 years old.

The case escalated when reports revealed a background of blackmail and coercion. Investigations show that a 46-year-old man, who had maintained an intimate relationship with the minor, and his 26-year-old friend pressured the girl to record a video in August of this year, involving the officer from Tepelenë.

A local media outlet reportedly possessed footage showing a police officer engaging in sexual acts with the minor during a conversation. The perpetrators allegedly demanded €12,000 from the Tepelenë police officer in exchange for not publishing the video.

So far, police have executed three arrest warrants, while Artur Ago remains in Greece, where authorities are working with international counterparts to locate and arrest him. As evidence, five mobile phones have been seized.

The 16-year-old victim is now under the care of her family and is being monitored by mental health specialists for psychological support.

This shocking event not only raises concerns about sexual exploitation and abuse of power but also highlights the need for stronger institutional accountability within law enforcement structures.
