Following widespread speculation on social media and accusations from his ex-partner that his recent wedding cost €500,000 and was potentially funded by "stolen public money," Genar Topalli, the son of former Albanian Parliament Speaker Jozefina Topalli, has issued a public statement to set the record straight.

The lavish wedding ceremony, which saw Genar marry Cindy Marina, a former Miss Universe Albania, drew intense scrutiny. In his statement, Genar directly tackles the rumors, clarifying that the wedding was not an extravagant, half-million-euro affair but rather a normal-cost event funded by him, his wife, and her parents.

A Wedding of Love, Not Lavishness

Genar Topalli’s full statement, shared on social media, provides a detailed breakdown of the wedding's financing and logistics. He explains that while he and his family feel no obligation to explain their private life, he chose to respond for the sake of transparency.

He clarified that the church ceremony took place at the Basilica of Saint Mary, where the couple received a "great spiritual blessing." The cost for this, he notes, was only a symbolic donation. The dinner reception followed at a venue in Rome, with a cost that "did not exceed the usual expenses of a wedding in Albania."

Topalli emphasized that "everything was planned, organized, and funded by me and Cindy, with the support of her parents."

A Family Built on American Dreams

To counter the claims of ill-gotten gains, Genar and Cindy’s financial independence is a central point of the statement. He explained that he and his wife live and work in the United States, where they jointly run a business in the transportation industry. Cindy, in addition to her other commitments, manages one of the largest volleyball clubs in Southern California, which is owned by her family.

Genar also highlighted his wife’s family background, stating that Cindy's parents have lived in the U.S. for nearly 30 years and have built successful businesses in the transportation and sports sectors, employing over 150 people.

This clarification, he stated, was made to "avoid any misunderstanding and to dismiss the completely false and speculative numbers and comments."

The statement concludes with a heartfelt thank you to everyone who wished the couple well on their wedding day, a "sacred day for their family."
