Maritime Emergency in Albania: Tourist Dies, Companion Hospitalized After Jet Ski Incident

According to the Border Police, the two foreign nationals were discovered in distress on a jet ski that had suffered engine failure. The patrol unit came across the watercraft with both individuals aboard during their regular operations at sea.

The male victim was pronounced dead upon arrival at the port, while the second individual was taken by ambulance in a state of shock and transported to the hospital in serious condition. Neither of the tourists carried identification documents, and authorities have launched an investigation to determine their identities and the full circumstances of the incident.

Preliminary information suggests the two may have suffered from hypothermia after being stranded in open waters for an extended period. It remains unclear how long they were at sea before being rescued.

The Border Police boat transported the individuals to the port at Pier Zero, where emergency medical services were waiting. Despite efforts to save them, one of the tourists could not be revived.

An investigative team has been established, and authorities are now awaiting forensic examination results and testimony from the surviving individual to piece together what happened.
